Two weeks ago, I went to CVS to get some passport photos taken for my visa application. Less than 10 minutes later, I walked out with two awful looking passport photos and $14 less in my wallet. It was NOT a win-win situation.
After realizing I needed to bring 2 additional passport photos with me to Korea, I did a bit of research and found ways to get them done WAY cheaper. Here are your options:
Option 1 = most economical
Do it yourself:
Step 1: Download a passport photo app on your phone. There are many different ones out there, but I used the app Passport Booth. This app is available on both Android and iOS.
Step 2: Find a white wall. Don’t have a white wall in your house? Buy some cheap white poster board at Dollar Tree or Walmart. Tape that poster board on your wall. Voila! You now have a white background.
Step 3: Take a photo of yourself in front of that white background. Retake it as many times as you want. Nobody will know it took you 20 takes to look that good. When you’re finally satisfied, email yourself that good-looking photo.
Step 4: Open the photo you just emailed yourself and download it to your computer.
Step 6: Upload your photo and place an order for the 4×6 print. I paid $0.85 for two 4×6 prints. You only need one, but I ordered two different photos in case one of them didn’t have the right measurements.
Step 7: Pick up your photo.
Step 8: Measure your photo to ensure it fits the requirements.
Step 9: Carefully cut out each 2×2 photo. You should have six total.
Step 10: Pat yourself on the back for saving so much money.
Optional Step: Go out and buy yourself some Chipotle with the money you saved. 😀
Option 2 = convenient but not as economical
Get them done at Sam’s Club, Costco, or Walmart:
Sam’s Club = $4.96 for two photos
Costco = $4.99 for two photos *This is based on what I’ve read online. I couldn’t find any information about it on Costco’s website.
Walmart = $7.44 for two photos
